Greenway(63ov) - Duclair(65ov) - Engvall(69ov)

Romanov(72ov) - Makar(83ov)
Fehervary(71ov) - Cole(71ov)
Holden(71ov) - Edler(69ov)

Talbot(71ov)
Petersen(60ov)

Key Youth
Matvei Michkov
Brock Faber
Scott Morrow
Otto Stenberg
Jacob Fowler
Issac Howard
Leevi Merilainen
Carson Bjarnason
Julian Lutz
Xaivier Simoneau

Draft Picks
Y37 - TB 1, BUF 1, SJ 1, STL 1, TB 3
Y38 - TB 1, EDM 1, FLO 1, TB 2, TB 3, EDM 3

Current Cash Balance - 29,799,357

A long offseason ahead, lots of work to do, likely less of a rebuild and more of a 2-3 season restocking of the pool. Building around a core of Makar, Svechnikov and Michkov. 7 1sts in next 2 drafts should help.

3rd Overall- Matvei Michkov
Projection - Franchise Winger(Please note projections are what I think they could be, not what I think they will be)

Michkov has a lot of baggage that comes with him. His long term contract in Russia, the lack of playing time on his KHL team, and so on. However this doesn't change the fact that pure talent wise, he's probably the 2nd best player in this class. Michkov will be a building block in a few seasons alongside Svechnikov and Makar. The Bolts will likely be competitive again once he comes over to North America, so his entry level deal will be a welcomed asset.

13th Overall - Otto Stenberg
Projection - Top 6 Forward/Top 9 Forward

Stenberg has a lot of great tools working for him. A great shot, competes hard and has good hockey IQ. He may not be a high end 100 point guy but he could certainly be a 60 point guy in the Bolts eyes. With his compete level he could still make it in the bottom 6 if his offence doesn't translate to the highest level.

18th Overall - Jacob Fowler
Projection - Starting Goalie/Potential Elite Goalie

Fowler has a lot of great qualities you want from a goalie. His high end hockey IQ might be the best of any goalie in the draft and allows him to read the play well. The biggest knock on him is his skating isn't the best and needs to be better for the pro level. However in this day and age I think skating can easily be fixed. Tampa's hopeful goalie of the future.

36th Overall - Carson Bjarnason
Projection - Starting Goalie/Backup Goalie

Bjarnasson had to play behind a less than ideal Wheat Kings squad, and really played much better than his numbers suggest. Consistency seems to be an issue for him. I could see him being a starter, but don't think he has the same upside as Fowler. But goalies are voo-doo so who knows.

46th Overall - Jayson Shaugabay
Projection - 3rd Line Powerplay Specialist/Top 6 Forward

Jayson Shaugabay has a lot of talent. However since he only played at the high school level, it's hard to predict how that will translate to the pros. Not to mention he is a very tiny player. Time will tell if he has the talent to compensate for his size.

Be an interesting read in 10 years as I think Bjarnason is a better prospect than Fowler but both have a good shot at the NHL.

Re: Tampa Y36 Offseason Outlook

Post by BigMac3110 »

This offseason will be interesting in Tampa. They appear to be well on their way to a miserable season with Cal Petersen currently listed as the starting goalie. They do have 4 1st round picks in the upcoming draft, so they are in good shape with that. Michkov is a bona fide stud. But with Makar and Svechnikov, should they have to rebuild?

"Makar and Svech are top tier talents, we believe Makar is the best d-man in the league and is only 25 and Svech has another gear to go" said GM MacPherson. "However, we believe our prospect pool needed a boost, our team was underperforming, and we wanted a massive shake up overall. We also have the cash to make noise come ufa. Overall we think this is the right move for the franchise and to try it again with a new supporting cast around Makar and Svech."

Makar and Svechnikov by the sounds of it will have to try to carry this team night in and night out for at least one season. Is it the right move? Who knows. GM MacPherson has shown to be successful in the past so hopefully this is what Tampa needs.

I doubted you a bit on the trade for Laffy but the news out of New York is he's gonna be switched to RW so he can get top 6 mins opposite either Panarin or Kreider could bode well for you.

Thinking that he'd fit perfectly on the 2nd line wing behind Svechnikov and(once he comes over) Michkov. With Mich getting 5 points in 4 games when given the chance I think safe to say he should be a high caliber player when he comes over. His cheap cap hit to go along with Svech, Lafreniere and Makar will be super helpful

Merilainen started two games and was a difference-maker in both. He made 30 stops against a New Jersey Devils team with a bit more depth, and then turned away 33 of 35 shots in a close 2-1 game against Montreal. Given Ottawa had just three shots in a 30-minute span against Montreal on Monday, Merilainen had to be special, and he was. With Ottawa looking like a team on the move, they’re still trying to figure out their long-term goaltending options. Merilainen has to spend the next little bit with Belleville in the AHL, but many scouts think he has the toolkit to be the answer in net
Love to see it, for anyone interested I'll take your next 3 years of 1sts for Merilanien

Although Fowler and BC faced a total of seven Bobcat power-plays, Quinnipiac failed to capitalize on a single opportunity and was held scoreless for over 54 minutes of play. Fowlers’ saves and lockdown blocks certainly contributed to BC’s lockdown defense, as he amassed a total of 29 saves and recorded a .967 save percentage

O'Reilly, Rust and Talbot locked up to deals that I hope look good in a season or 2, all have had really good nhl starts. Could help us compete much sooner than expected.

Oh Henrique returns as well, return of the king

Resigning O'Reilly, and bringing back past Bolts Talbot and Rust should give the rebuild a jolt. Not good this year but hopefully over the next 2 seasons we can reclaim our title as best in the universe.

Laffy has been better, Faber has been a stud, Makar has once again had an all-star season, Svech has been Svech. Lots to like about the ratings for the Bolts.

Was questioning if I made the right move with my Fox trade but getting Faber and the assets to get Michkov would do it again 100% at this point in time.
