Jesperi Kotkaniemi

Post by Carolina Gm-Andrew »

Was suppose to be the Habs 2nd line Center this year. Habs we’re handing the keys to Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, Poehling* and Evans who are all under 25.

Other than the revenge angle I don’t know what the Canes are doing really... they already have Aho, Necas, Trochek and Staal down the middle...

My gut says the Habs don’t match... not sure that’s the right play though...

What do you guys think?

They should not match, but they likely will.

Revenge for the Aho offer sheet. Best part is the $20 signing bonus (Aho's #) and "Regards from the Canes". Greatest offer sheet ever and straight hilarious.

Waddel direct copying Bergevins statement word for word is just so savage.

As a Leafs fan I think it's hilarious for the troll factor

But as the GM who has Kotka in DHL, I'm praying on everything that is holy the Habs match lol

Almost no chance the Habs don't match in my mind. If they don't and Kotka finds chemistry with the slew of young skilled forwards in Carolina (Svech, Aho, Teravainen, Necas, Trochek) then Bergevin looks like an even bigger tool than he already has this offseason and you would have to think his job would be on the line. The Habs also have no other good option for 2C that they could justify taking a late 1st and 3rd to give him up.

I expect them to take the compensation and add to into to land Dvorak.

Not sure if it’s an improvement but I doubt Montreal wants to match due to the limitations on what they can do with Kotkaniemi this season and the future QO required to retain him. This was the path that started with the playoff benching.

Is the consensus that Dvorak is worth more than a 1st and a 3rd?

I haven’t watched much of Arizona lately...

I remember when Blake spent a solid 2-3 years writing KotGod everywhere. Luckily he goes through his "bois" quicker than McJagger went through women.

Kind of screws both teams, which is personally funny to me.
